Music and sound for the space in between.
I’m Johnny E, a musician, composer and sound designer based in Finland. I sing, play guitar and make music in bands, with roots in rock and metal and a curiosity that takes me well beyond them. Riffs, melody, atmosphere—whatever the project, I’m looking for something with character.
Alongside writing, recording and producing music, I create sound for film, animation and games. My work brings creative and technical sound design together: composing a score, recording and shaping sounds, or building interactive audio that responds to what’s happening on screen. I also mix live sound and work on audiovisual events. Projects have ranged from stage films for Slush to product sound design for Neural DSP.
I work at Neural DSP, where my experience spans audio hardware and software testing, quality control and helping musicians get their tools working. Earlier work in music licensing at APRA AMCOS gave me another perspective on the industry. With an MA in Sound in New Media from Aalto University, I bring a musician’s ear and a practical understanding of audio technology to everything I make.
